As an infant feeding specialist and newborn sleep consultant, I am often asked about products that can support feeding and sleep goals.

Here are some tips before making any purchase:

1. The best investment is working with the right consultant! You will receive one-on-one time with a provider who can tailor a plan to meet your needs. You can also get the opportunity to discuss what products and/or supplies may benefit you and your baby.

2. Do your own research. There are so many products on the market right now that make outrageous claims, and may not be safe for you or your baby. Remember: companies want to sell you something to make a profit. You can also spend a lot of money on products that may not support your needs or goals. Infant Carriers and Sleep Sacks should be approved by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. Swaddling is not recommended for babies who have begun to roll on their own.

3. The products I have listed are some of my favourites based on real feedback from parents, other health care professionals, or current evidence that support safe infant feeding and sleep practices.
